Drivetrain

Building work on a completely new separate plant for sophisticated drive components and systems with a total area of roughly 9,000 sqm, 6,000 sqm of this pure production space, started in Kapfenberg in April 2016.

The total investment volume is €33.5 million, roughly €12 million of this for the building infrastructure and approximately €21.5 million for machinery and equipment for the manufacturing of high-performance drive components and systems.

The systems will be commissioned from 2017, launching the production start-up over several years.

The entire value chain (chipping, thermal and surface treatment, assembly and logistics) from the blank to finished product will be covered in the new plant.

Roughly 70 new jobs will be created by 2019.

Following the high performance motor components plant built in neighbouring Bruck/Mur in 2012 and the major investment in the Pankl Schmiedetechnik in Kapfenberg in 2014, this new plant is the next logical step as part of the strategy to predominantly invest in the rapidly growing high performance segment.

The objective is to map the entire value chain from start to finish in this new plant. Pankl will also work intensively on the future production topic of “additive production” in this new plant.

The project is being co-financed by funds from the European Fund for Regional Development (http://www.efre.gv.at/)
